One of the most common questions that people who are dieting ask is does drinking water help you lose weight. The simple answer to that question is yes, drinking water does help you lose weight.

One of the reasons that water does help you to lose weight is that when you start drinking a lot of water, you body starts to release that water faster. You see, when you don’t drink enough water, your body stores that water, which adds pounds to your weight. Your water weight can be as high as 10 pounds! Once you start drinking the right levels of water each day, your body will release that water and you will see yourself losing your water weight very fast.

Now, water storage is only a small part of the answer to the question of does drinking water help you lose weight. The other part is that if you drink other drinks throughout the day and replace those drinks with water, then you are going to reduce your daily caloric intake, which will help you to lose weight as well.

Most people drink a couple of sodas a day, tea with sugar, or coffee with sugar or worse yet, energy drinks that are high in calories. When you replace that with water, your body it going to respond positively. Initially you are going to lose weight simply because of the reduction in your daily calories. Over the long term you are going to aide your body in keeping that weight off by ensuring that you don’t add those calories to your diet.

Lastly, drinking water about 20 minutes before you eat will make you feel full faster and help you eat less, sort of like a natural appetite suppressant. Eating less foods naturally creates a situation where you are going to lose weight. If you drink the amount of water each day that you are supposed to, then your stomach will feel fuller throughout the day, preventing you from over snacking or eating too much at meals.

Keep in mind, however, that when you first start drinking water, it is natural for your body to eliminate more during that time. If you find that you are urinating a couple of times an hour, don’t worry; after a couple of days you will not be facing that problem and you will experience all of the health benefits of drinking water!
